Since I don't own a Raspberry, and I don't have a docker instance on a machine I would want to leave behind in my house (while it would make sense to use my NAS/HomeLab servers as a VM for this, I want the ability to have each be more or less riding on their own system, and modular, so I want a semi-dedicated device for my HomeAutomation equipment), the cost to buy HomeSeer is roughly the same cost to buy either a NUC or Raspberry + peripherals), so the cost is actually the same for me. For UI.honestly, if it's set up right, I don't expect to spend much time on it, and that's to set things up/tweak routines, but as the whole point of automation is to NOT have to tweak things, the UI is an afterthought to me. I simply do not have the time any longer to do hours of research, buy products that might work, tweak them, etc. Which, to me is worth a ton of time and resources to get a potentially better system up and running. So, basically the only two reasons I can find to not use HomeSeer is that the UI is a bit dated, and that it costs money (GASP), and there are some integrations that don't exist quite yet.
